Members of Congress Test Drive a New Class of
Electric Vehicle on Capitol Hill
With Eye on Job Growth

Washington, DC – On a hot July afternoon, the Senate was debating a new energy bill focusing on oil spills, but also including incentives for clean alternative transport including electric cars. Last week the House passed a $3.6 billion bill called the Promoting Electric Vehicle Act (PEVA) which furthers the objective of making half of U.S. cars electric by 2030. On Wednesday the future was parked on Capitol Hill.
There’s a race underway fueled by both the government and the private sector to put electric cars on America’s roadways. A new class of electric vehicle was being test driven by members of Congress. The E-Motion manufactured by the Tomberlin Automotive Group of Augusta, Ga., is a production prototype with industry leading safety features and design that may lead the nation in a new automotive class.
